I now understand my Mother regarding Christmas
Not until I moved out did I finally begin to appreciate my mom for the saint she truly is. Besides putting up with all my teenage bullshit, she did 90% of the cooking and cleaning around the house and made that shit look easy. Only now that I have a reasonably sized apartment do I realize that having a nice home is hard fucking work.
She used to say that everyone in the family loved to decorate the house, trim a Christmas tree, wrap presents in all their shiny glory & make candy… but then she was left to clean it up all alone. She used to seem so defeated & upset after the holidays & now I’m starting to get it. It’s not that I don’t love the joy & festivities of it all & seeing the kids so excited but wow, it really sucks to be the one left all alone to do the dirty work.
